This is considered one of the best-kept secrets by the locals and for good reason. This resort boasts over 50 runs and is a full service resort. For only $45, you’ll have full access and a lift pass. You’ll find coupons for up to 50% off the price of a lift ticket right on the front page of their website. For accommodations, you simply have to get into town for quite a selection of available hotels, which you can access a complete list on their website, as well. This is one cheap ski resort that offers a lot for the avid skier.

North Star, Lake Tahoe

Your ski pass and your lift ticket will run about $80 here, but there’s a discount if you want to stay more than one day. As an extra bonus, when you purchase a child’s pass for $30, the next day’s pass is free. With 10 lifts in operation and 40 runs, the slopes are not crowded, but there are certainly quite a few people here. Accommodations are available, but if you’re on a budget, you may want to look a little farther away. For the next to last weekend in January, the rates for two people for a weekend were $269.00 and it didn’t include any perks.

Some Things to Consider

Many of these ski resorts are really set up to be outstanding family vacation hotspots, although if your children are sitting in the snow, they may not think “hotspot!” However, you could also try Aspen or Vail, which are fantastic, places to ski, but only if you have that platinum-gold credit card ready to go!
